Javed Iqbal Chowdhury, Cox's Bazar: 14 other members of the family of Rohingya leader Mohammad Muhibullah, who was shot by gunmen in the camp in Cox's Bazar, along with his two brothers, have left for Canada. Earlier on March 31, Muhibullah's wife and 11 family members left Dhaka for Canada. Last Sunday (September 26), they left the Rohingya camp for Dhaka, said Assistant Superintendent of Police Farooq Ahmed of the armed police battalion assigned to the security of the Rohingya camp. He said, 14 members of the Muhibullah family were taken from the transit camp to Dhaka under their battalion under the supervision of the United Nations Refugee Agency UNHCR. They left for Canada late on Monday night. Among these 14 members are the wives and children of deceased Muhibullah's mother Umma Fazal and his two brothers Habib Ullah and Ahmad Ullah. Muhibullah, the chairman of Arakan Rohingya Society for Peace and Human Rights, was killed by gunmen in the D-8 block of Kutupalong-1 (East) Lambashia camp on the night of September 29, 2021. He was known as 'Master Muhibullah' to the Rohingyas as he taught at a school in Maungdu, Myanmar. Since the murder, Muhibullah's relatives and followers have been trying to leave the camp. The current chairman of ARSPHR, Dr. Zobair, said, "Muhibullah's 18 family members, including his wife, children, mother, and brothers, do not feel safe in the Kutupalong camp. 96 members of these families are currently safe in transit centers outside the camp. But they are not even willing to stay there. He also said, "They have informed various organizations of the United Nations, including the United Nations Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner, about their desire to go to a third country outside Bangladesh. Then last March, 11 people, including Mohibullah's wife Nasima Khatun, nine children and one daughter's son-in-law, crossed to Canada under the supervision of UNHCR. 14 more people left this time. At Kutupalong Transit Center, 82 members of Muhibullah's family, including the sons-in-law of his four sisters, are expected to leave anytime after that.
