News desk: On the occasion of the autumn Durga Puja of Sanatan religions, 4 days general holiday and 14-point demand including ensuring equal rights of all communities according to the constitution of 1972 has been demanded by Bangladesh Puja Ujjad Parishad Chittagong Metropolitan Branch.

They made this demand at a press conference organized at Chittagong Press Club on Tuesday (September 27). At this time, referring to incidents of vandalism and attacks in various places in the past, those involved were identified as anti-human and a special tribunal was formed and demanded punishment.

At that time, Lion Ashish Kumar Bhattacharya, president of the organization, said, like every year, J. of Chittagong city. M. Durgotsava will be celebrated in around 283 pujamandaps in 16 police stations including Sen Hall premises. Durgotsava will be celebrated for 5 days starting from October 1.

In the press conference, the general secretary of the organization, Hillol Sen Ujjal, said that we are bound by the traditional bond of the ideology, spirit and values of the liberation war. This bond is as true and eternal as nature itself. Fundamentalist and bigoted communal groups can always try to discredit the government. The administration should keep a watchful eye on this matter.

He said, we have appealed to the administration in the past days to take measures to prevent the recurrence of communal incidents. However, we have noticed that in some parts of the country fundamentalist groups have attacked and tortured the traditional community. In addition, there have been incidents like forcible seizure, attack on temples, vandalism of idols in various places.

Hillol Sen Ujjwal said that on October 15 last year, on the day of Vijaya Dasami, Chittagong's main pujamandap J. M. Sen Hall was attacked. Around 76 people were identified and arrested after watching the CCTV video footage. Later, the accused came out on bail one by one from the High Court. So we are worried.

He expects that this year's Sharadotsav will be completed in a fair and peaceful environment with the full cooperation of the government.
