Tofazzal Hossain Babu, Pabna: Iron thieves syndicate has become active around Pakshir Rooppur nuclear power plant in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna. Occasionally there are incidents of theft and robbery of trucks full of iron. On September 14, 6 trucks loaded with iron from Rooppur were robbed in Pabna on their way to Pagla in Narayanganj. The police have yet to recover those two truckloads of iron or find out the whereabouts of anyone involved. A businessman named Abdul Hamid of Kolapara village of Srinagar upazila of Munshiganj filed a written complaint on behalf of M/s. In the written complaint, he mentioned that M/s Nirab purchased 350 metric tons of iron scrap from Nikimot Automstroy-JSC, the construction company of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant on September 13 in the name of Aluminum Store. On behalf of the company, his representative Abdul Hamid took delivery of 74 tons of 310 kg iron scrap with 6 trucks around 9:30 pm on September 14. At around ten o'clock at night, the cars came out of the Rooppur nuclear power plant and came in front of the local NRBC bank to be stopped. After some time some unidentified people came and beat the driver and robbed 6 trucks including the driver and fled from the spot. In the complaint, he said, after a lot of inquiries, 4 trucks full of goods were found in front of the Gachpara petrol pump in Pabna Sadar at around 8 am the next day on September 15. But there was no trace of two other trucks. The drivers of the two hijacked trucks are Altab Hossain (Truck No. Dhaka Metto-T-18-4251) and Kawshar Ali (Truck No. Dhaka Metto-T 15-5556). Abdul Hamid, the representative of the affected businessmen, said that 4 trucks full of looted goods near the Gachpara petrol pump in Pabna Sadar were recovered with the efforts of the Pabna Sadar Thana Police and a leader of the District Volunteer League. However, Ishwardi Thana police have not been able to trace the two stolen trucks yet. He alleged that several trucks full of iron were looted or disappeared in the vicinity of Rooppur project but they were not recovered. Ordinary traders are not able to do business safely due to this iron thieves syndicate. There are allegations of involvement of local influential circles with that syndicate. Meanwhile, Pabna Sadar Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Ziaur Rahman (currently in-charge, Dublia Police Camp) who was on the spot that day said, "On the night of September 14, we received information that a truck full of iron was illegally seized in Sadar's forest." Go there and check all the documents of the car and see that the goods are valid. Later, the trucks with goods were conveyed to them. Apart from this, the fact that two trucks are missing or stolen is not known. In this regard, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ishwardi Police Station Arvind Sarkar admitted the truth of the incident and said that it is taking some time to identify the drivers as their mobile numbers are blocked. When asked about the occasional incident of theft of iron scrap, he said that various local and foreign organizations are working around the Rooppur project. Meanwhile, some unexpected events are happening. However, after the search of the two recently stolen trucks, let's see if we can uncover who is involved in this incident. This kind of thing
