News Desk: Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has commented that even after 50 years of independence, BNP is chanting the mantra 'Payre Pakistan'. Awami League general secretary said this in a statement on Friday (September 16). Obaidul Quader said, "Those who politically and familially cherish the politics of Pakistani philosophy in independent Bangladesh are still chanting the mantra 'Pair Pakistan' after 50 years of independence!" Awami League general secretary also said, "This is not only treason but dishonesty with the blood of 3 million martyrs. Such a statement by BNP Secretary General is an expression of the anti-Bangladesh conspiracy of a group including BNP.” Obaidul Quader said, "When Bangladesh's progress, success, development and achievements are praised worldwide, it is very sad that BNP Secretary General praised the Pakistan tenure." Obaidul Quader commented that the traditional anti-Bangladesh position and anti-independence apolitical agenda of the BNP has been revealed through the speech of Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, "Pakistan period was better than now". General Secretary of Awami League said, "No person or organization who believes in freedom, sovereignty, democracy, progress and patriotism can make comments against the spirit of such a great liberation war." Mirza Fakhrul said in an exchange with local journalists in Thakurgaon the previous day, "The current government is worse than the government of Pakistan. We were better off financially and in terms of living conditions during Pakistan."
