Observance of National Day of Mourning in Bashefmubiprabi

Imran Mahmud, Jamalpur: The 47th martyrdom anniversary and National Mourning Day of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the greatest Bengali of all time and Father of the Nation, was celebrated with due dignity at Bangmata Sheikh Fazilatnesha Mujib University of Science and Technology (Bashefmubiprabi). The Mourning Day ceremony began on Monday (August 15) morning with the national flag flying at half-mast in front of the university's administration building. The national flag was lowered to half-mast with the performance of the national anthem by the Vice Chancellor of the University. Syed Samsuddin Ahmed. First, the Vice-Chancellor along with teachers-students and officials-employees paid floral tributes to the portraits of Bangabandhu and Bangamata. At this time Treasurer Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Dean of the Faculty of Science Professor Dr. Sushant Kumar Bhattacharya, Director of Finance and Accounts Department Khan Md. Olyar Rahman, Controller of Examinations Prof. SMA Huraira, Director of Planning and Development Department and Project Director Colonel (Retd.) Kazi Sharif Uddin, Chairman of various departments and teachers were present. Later the University's Mirza Azam Hall, Noorunnahar Begum Hall, Bashefmubiprobi Officers Association, Journalists Association, Chhatra League separately paid floral tributes to the portraits of Bangabandhu and Bangmata. Under his leadership we got the status of independent country and independent nation. Not only that, the great leader's contribution to our proud existence as Bangladeshis and our glorious identity in the world. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Syed Samsuddin Ahmed said, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman formulated visionary education policy immediately after independence. He took various initiatives to facilitate the path of higher education. As a result of this, higher education has expanded in Bangladesh. Bangabandhu is not with us today, but his dreams, ideals and guidance still show us the right path. And following the path shown by him, his privileged daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is moving forward on the path of economic liberation of Bangladesh today. He took various initiatives for overall welfare including the education system. He expressed his firm conviction to make Bangladesh a poverty and hunger-free, modern and developed country and the golden Bangladesh of Bangabandhu's dream through the implementation of Vision 2041 under the leadership of the Prime Minister. During the discussion, the teachers and officials of the university analyzed the significance of the National Mourning Day and expressed their commitment to contribute more to the development of the country with more enthusiasm and patriotism by converting this grief into strength. On the occasion of National Mourning Day, the officers and employees including Registrar Mr. Syed Farooq Hossain paid tribute to the portrait of the Father of the Nation at Dhanmondi 32 in the capital. Meanwhile, on National Day of Mourning, a special doa-milad mahfil and food was distributed among the needy orphans on the initiative of officials and employees in remembrance of the martyrs of the brutal killing of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib on August 15. On the occasion of the National Day of Mourning, a video documentary on the struggle and life of the founder of independent Bangladesh and the father of the nation was screened throughout the day at the initiative of the University's Bangabandhu Corner. The Father of the Nation's timeless speech of March 7 was broadcast.
