Ending all the excitement and drama, the Bangladesh Cricket Board announced the Asia Cup squad today (August 13). Along with 17 members of the main team, there are four more standby players. However, the selectors have not yet released the list of names of the standbys. But there are several surprises in the main team. After almost 3 years, Sabbir Rahman got a call to the Bangladesh team. After announcing the team, chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu explained the reasons for Sabbir's return to the national team, Ebadat Hossain's call-up to the T20 team and Shariful Islam's exclusion. Regarding Sabbi's return to the team after almost 3 years, Nannu's response was, 'Sabbi is an experienced cricketer. He has been selected from his experience in international and domestic cricket in T20. We took the decision regarding Sabbir after discussing it with everyone in the team management. In some places some players have to think like this. International experience is to be seen. Since we have more injuries this time, we need an extra middle-order batsman. About the hard hitter Sabbir, Nannu added, "I have sent Sabbir to Windies for the 'A' team. He will get some international exposure there. He will be able to use that in the national team. Sabbir did not play too badly in DPL. After that he is nursing in Bangladesh Tigers, then In the 'A' team. This experience is a huge asset for him. He will surely do well in the national team using it." Nannu said about the inclusion of right-arm pacer Ebadat, who made his ODI debut in the Zimbabwe series, "Ebadat did very well in the last BPL. He was taken into the team with that in mind. Soumya did not hide his eyes. Otherwise, I would not have sent Windies for the 'A' team. But Shariful and Munim Shahriar The selectors have not officially explained any specific reason behind the exclusion."
