Shooting in Ukhia Rohingya camp: Two Rohingya killed

Javed Iqbal Chowdhury, Cox's Bazar: Two Rohingya including the headman were killed by terrorists in the Ukhia Jamtoli camp of Cox's Bazar. They are Head Majhi Abu Taleb (40), son of Abdur Rahim, resident of C-Block of Jamtali No. 15 Rohingya Camp in Ukhia, and Syed Hossain (35), son of Imam Hossain in the same camp. The incident took place in the area adjacent to Dugarm Pahar in Block C-9 of Jamtoli Rohingya Camp-15 in Ukhiya at 12:00 on Tuesday, August 9. 8 Armed Police Battalion (APBN) Additional Superintendent of Police (Media) Kamran Hossain confirmed that the bodies of the victims were recovered and brought to Ukhia police station. It is known that a group of terrorists Ukhiya Jamtali Rohingya Camp-15 is about 150 feet above the level of C-9 block on the slope of a remote mountain in front of the house (shed no. 1010) of Achia Begum, C block head Majhi Abu Taleb and C/9 sub block. The sailor shot Syed Hossain and escaped. Bystanders came forward and rescued two seriously injured persons and admitted them to Jamtoli MSF Hospital. There Syed Hossain was declared dead by the doctor on duty. On the other hand, when Abu Taleb was sent to Ukhia Kutupalong MSF Hospital for better treatment, the doctor on duty there declared him dead. According to local Rohingyas, 8-10 miscreants premeditatedly shot and killed Syed Hussain and Abu Taleb due to past enmity. In this incident, there is suppressed anger in the entire camp area. 8 Armed Police Battalion (APBN) Additional Superintendent of Police (Media) Kamran Hossain said, the members of law and order forces deployed in the camp are continuing block raids and operations in the camp to catch those involved in the murder. Apart from this, he also said that the case is under process at Ukhia police station.
