12 arrested in Chapainawabganj attack on police

Md Farooq Hossain. Chapainawabganj: A case has been filed in Shibganj police station against 130 BNP leaders and activists in connection with the attack on the police in Shibganj of Chapainawabganj. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shibganj Police Station Zobair Ahmed confirmed the matter. He said that SI Sihab of Shibganj police station filed this case as the plaintiff on Sunday night. 30 named and 100 unknown people have been accused in the case. And so far 12 people have been arrested. OC said that police operation is going on to arrest others. It is to be noted that as part of the central agenda, yesterday afternoon, Shibganj Upazila Krishak Dal took out a protest rally in front of Shibganj Bazar's Islami Bank junction under the banner of Shibganj Upazila Krishak Dal, against the increase in the prices of daily commodities including oil, gas, fertilizer, frequent load shedding and the murder of Abdur Rahim, the leader of the Volunteers' Party in Bhola, and Noore Alam, the president of Chhatra Dal. Activists gather. When there was a traffic jam on the road, the police advised the protesters to leave the road and gather. At one point the protesters got angry and threw bricks at the police. At least 5 people including a policeman were injured in the brick pelting by the protesters and the windows of the Islami Bank were broken. At one point, the police fired several rounds of rubber bullets and tearcells to bring the situation under control.
