News Desk: It is unfortunate and embarrassing that Bangladesh Mission Deputy Chief Kazi Anarkali was recalled to Dhaka in connection with finding drugs at home in Indonesia. State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam said that there will be a full investigation in this matter. He said these things at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday (August 2). "This is embarrassing for us," said Shahriar Alam, saying that we will never compromise on the high status of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We are investigating the matter. Legal action will be taken against him if he is found guilty in the investigation.” To a question about raiding Anarkali's residence despite diplomatic immunity, the Minister of State for External Affairs said, “My initial reaction is, there is nothing wrong here. We heard that there was another foreign national in that house. In that case, the police can go." He also said, “We thank the Indonesian government. They cooperated. Our diplomats are in our custody, under our control. It will be helpful for our work.” Earlier, various media reported on Tuesday that Anarkali was repatriated from Jakarta after she was detained in Indonesia for allegedly having a large quantity of marijuana at home. It said the Indonesian government's drug control authorities raided Anarkali's apartment in South Jakarta in the first week of July. He was then detained but released due to diplomatic immunity under the Vienna Convention. Later, he was brought back to Dhaka based on negotiations with the Indonesian government.
