News desk: In the ongoing global situation, the price of fertilizers has increased abnormally in the international market. This shock hit the country's fertilizer market. The price of urea fertilizer has increased by Rs 6 at the dealer level. At present, the dealer price of fertilizer is Tk 20, at the farmer level it is Tk 22. This price of fertilizer will be effective from Monday (August 1). This information was informed in a press release of the Ministry of Agriculture. It is informed in the notification, to keep the use of urea fertilizer at a rational level and due to the abnormal increase in the price of fertilizer in the international market in the ongoing global situation, the maximum retail price of urea fertilizer at dealer level in the country has been increased from 14 (fourteen) taka to 20 (twenty) taka per kg. At the farmer level, the government has re-fixed it from 16 (sixteen) taka to 22 (twenty two) per kg. This price will be effective from today Monday. The current price of urea fertilizer per kg in the international market is 81 rupees. Even if it increases by 6 rupees, the government will have to give a subsidy of 59 rupees per kg. In the fiscal year 2005-06, the subsidy on urea fertilizer was only Rs.15 per kg. The circular also said that the current agriculture-friendly government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been delivering sufficient fertilizers to the doorsteps of farmers at very low prices by reducing four steps since 2009. DAP fertilizer contains 18% nitrogen or urea fertilizer content. That is why the government is reducing the price of DAP from Tk 90 to Tk 16 per kg to reduce the unnecessary and excessive use of urea fertilizer by increasing the use of DAP. As a result of this initiative, the use of DAP fertilizer has doubled in the last few years. In 2019, 8 lakh tonnes of DAP was used, currently 16 lakh tonnes are being used. It should be noted that there is sufficient stock of all kinds of fertilizers in the country against the demand. The demand of urea fertilizer in the country till Amon season (July-September) is 6 lakh 19 thousand metric tons, on the contrary, currently stock is 7 lakh 27 thousand metric tons, which is about 1 lakh tons more than the requirement. Other Fertilizers like TSP demand 1 lakh 19 thousand ton against 3 lakh 9 thousand ton, DAP demand 225 thousand ton, against 6 lakh 34 thousand ton and MOP demand 1 lakh 37 thousand ton against 2 lakh ton. 10 thousand tons.
