Human chain to demand Hemnagar UP election in Gopalpur

Nur Alam, Gopalpur (Tangail): A human chain has been held in Gopalpur, Tangail to demand return of people's right to vote by re-announcing the schedule of Hemnagar Union Parishad (UP) elections which was postponed due to complications related to the case. The human chain was held in front of the Hemnagar Union Awami League office at noon on Tuesday. It was attended by local voters including ward members of the union and members of the reserved women's seat. Bangladesh Awami League nominated chairman candidate Anisur Rahman Talukder Hira, Union Awami League president Mahmudunnabi Ranju, member candidate Abdul Hai, Md. Ferdous, Md. Sujan Mia, Abu Saeed Talukder, Kamruzzaman Liton, deletion of reserved women's seats: Mumtaz and others. The speakers said that the election of this union has been stopped with a conspiracy and baseless case. The speakers demanded immediate withdrawal of the case and re-announcement of the schedule for holding elections in the union. Note that one day before the ninth phase of the election on June 15, the Election Commission postponed the election of the Union Parishad by order of the High Court in a case related to the border issue.
