Campaign to control oil market in Bogra: 4 companies fined

Sanju Roy, Bogra: The National Consumer Rights Protection Department conducted a surprise operation in the city's Rajabazar on Sunday afternoon to control the oil market in Bogra. A total of Tk 6,000 was fined to four companies for selling oil at exorbitant prices and not displaying price lists in businesses. Iftekharul Alam Rizvi, assistant director of the Bogra district office of the National Consumer Rights Protection Department, which led the campaign, said they had been fined for violating the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009. Four of the companies could not display their price list. Besides, they were charging more than the price fixed by the government. He said they would continue their campaign to stop consumers from selling products to consumers at exorbitant prices other than the fixed price of any product, including oil.
