Workshop was held in Kurigram to improve the living standards of the flood affected people

Kurigram Correspondent: A project awareness workshop has been held in Kurigram to improve the living standards of the flood-affected people and reduce their disaster risk. On Saturday morning, the workshop was organized by the local private NGO AFAD's 'Anticipatory Actions Setup and Pilot Project' and in collaboration with Christian Aid Bangladesh. Ulipur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Bipul Kumar inaugurated the workshop. Kurigram Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Md. Syeda Yasmin presided over the function as the guest of honor. Rasedul Hasan, President of Kurigram Press Club Raju Mostafiz, General Secretary Abdul Khaleq Faruk, Ulipur Upazila Women's Affairs Officer Sakhina Begum, Buraburi UP Chairman Ershadul Islam and others. The program was conducted by project coordinator Manikrunch Roy. The six-month pilot project will be implemented in Buraburi and Hatia Unions of Ulipur Upazila in Kurigram. The main programs include purchase of flood relief boats, construction of 4 gender friendly places and cattle shelters, distribution of cash among 650 victims, repair of damaged dams and community connecting roads for employment of 300 workers, construction of 10 reparations. It was mentioned that 17 programs have been undertaken including water purification tablets and anti-parasitic drugs for animals and vaccination camps for animals, distribution of monthly hygiene management kits to hundreds of adolescents and women. For this there is a budget of 45 lakh 56 thousand 72 taka. The project will run from June 15 to November 30 this year.
