Padma Bridge as a result of public support: Prime Minister

News Desk: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has commented that the dream Padma Bridge has been built as a result of people's trust and support. He said, “This new chapter of development has been unveiled today as a result of the confidence and support of the patriotic people. We will continue to work sincerely to fulfill the hopes, aspirations and dreams of the people in the days to come. ” Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina made the remarks in a message on Friday (June 24) on the occasion of the inauguration of the Padma Bridge on Saturday (June 25). " The Prime Minister said, “The construction of the Padma Bridge has established uninterrupted, cost-effective and fast communication with the capital in 21 districts of the south-west. The importance of this bridge in the multifaceted development of this region with immense potential is immense. New doors will be opened for the development of the region, especially in the industrial and tourism industries. Tourist arrivals will increase in various archeological and scenic places including the tomb of the father of the nation at Tungipara, Sundarbans and Kuakata beach. The Padma Bridge will play a significant role in harnessing the agricultural and fishery resources of the flood-prone coastal areas and in rapid marketing across the country. ” Sheikh Hasina said the 'Padma Bridge' would serve as a maternity ward in the communication system using the full capacity of Mongla seaport including the Pigeon seaport, bridges built over major rivers, Rampal and Pigeon power plants already established in the region during the Awami League government. International trade will increase through land ports like Darshan. The bridge will connect electricity, gas, optical fiber and other services at both ends. The implementation of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge Construction Project will increase the overall production of the country by 1.23 per cent and will make a unique contribution to socio-economic development by alleviating poverty at the rate of 0.64 per cent per annum.
