Mawa edge ready for Padma bridge inauguration

The bridge will be inaugurated and a gathering will be held on the banks of Mawa Padma in Munshiganj. So centering on the inauguration, the mood of the festival in Munshiganj. It is learned that the decoration of the venue and the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway adjacent to the Padma Bridge North Police Station is almost complete. The expressway is decorated with various banners and festoons. The venue of the auspicious gathering has been arranged in the style of Padma Bridge. Work on the nameplate and mural of the bridge is nearing completion. The work of beautification around the venue is also in full swing. Meanwhile, several levels of security have been tightened at the inauguration site and the entire Mawa area. Police, RAB, army and various law enforcement agencies are working. The much-anticipated Padma Bridge road will be inaugurated on Saturday (June 25). Traffic will start from 8 am the next day. On July 4, 2001, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina laid the foundation stone of the dream Padma Bridge. Construction began in November 2014. Constructed of two layers of steel and concrete, the bridge has a four-lane road at the upper level and a single railway at the lower level. The main infrastructure is constructed in the Padma-Brahmaputra-Meghna river basin with 42 pillars and 41 spans of 150 m length. The length of the bridge is 8.150 km and the width is 16.10 m. The construction of the Padma Bridge has cost Tk 30,000 crore. These costs include construction of bridge infrastructure, river governance, connecting roads, land acquisition, rehabilitation and environment, salaries and allowances, etc. According to the agreement of the bridge department with the finance department of Bangladesh, the government gave a loan of Tk 29,793 crore for the construction of the bridge. The bridge authority will pay it at the rate of 1 percent interest within 35 years. China Major Bridge Engineering Construction Company Limited is the contractor for the construction of the 6.15 km dream structure.
