Journalist threatened with case in Lohagara

Lohagara (Chittagong) Correspondent: A man named Ashab Uddin has threatened to sue Lohagara Upazila correspondent of Chittagong regional daily Azadi Mohammad Maruf. On Tuesday (June 14) afternoon, Tyler made the threat while talking on his mobile phone about cutting the soil. Son of Shah Alam of Jan Mohammad Para of Ward 7 of Charamba Union of Ashab Uddin Upazila. On the same night, Mohammad Maruf filed a general diary at Lohagara police station. It is learned that on June 14 at noon, Jan Mohammad Para of Charamba Union of the upazila went to the spot after receiving the news of cutting the hill and taking away the soil. Talking to the locals, the owner of the excavator used for tiller cutting and the buyer of the soil, it is learned that one of the locals, Ashab Uddin, was involved in tiller cutting. On the same afternoon, he was asked on his mobile phone about cutting the hill. At one point in the conversation, Tiller threatened to file a defamation suit against Mohammad Maruf if his remarks were made in the news. When contacted on his mobile phone, Ashab Uddin said that he was not involved in cutting the hill. He will take legal action if he is involved in the news. Officer-in-charge (OC) of Lohagara Police Station Mohammad Atiqur Rahman said a general diary has been filed against Ashab Uddin for threatening to file a defamation suit on his mobile phone. Appropriate action will be taken in this regard subject to investigation.
