Three youths jailed in Narail for molesting schoolgirl

Sohail Rana, Narail: A mobile court has sentenced three youths to life imprisonment for indecent assault on a schoolgirl in Rail. On Thursday afternoon, June 9, in front of Narail Government Women's College, Assistant Commissioner Land Md. Ruhul Quddus passed sentence under Section 509 of the Mobile Court. Ijazul, son of Akmal Ali of Raghunathpur village in Singasholpur union of Sadar upazila, was sentenced to three months imprisonment for non-payment of Tk 30,000, Israfil Sikder's son Ismail to two months imprisonment for non-payment of Tk 20,000 and Mokaddes Qazi's son Mirajul Islam to one month imprisonment for non-payment of Tk 10,000. All the 3 convicts are from the same area. Assistant Commissioner of Land Md. Ruhul Quddus said the criminals found a schoolgirl alone in the street and tried to grab her hand, saying obscene things. We have punished them under Section 509 of the Mobile Court. He further said that through this punishment, a message should be conveyed to the society and parents that girls should go to school and college safely and fearlessly as long as the current government and the rule of law keep them free. The official said that no girl has to admit any kindness due to the awfulness of this law.
