Press conference of Superintendent of Police on Shalu murder case in Kurigram

Kurigram Correspondent: After a long three-and-a-half months, the police have been able to arrest Zakir members, Khaybar Ali and Zia involved in the notorious Shalu murder in Roumari upazila of Kurigram and recover the buried bodies. Kurigram Superintendent of Police Syeda Jannat Ara presented the information at a press briefing at her office on Friday (May 4). The superintendent of police said Shalu Mia was a drug transporter of Zakir member. Shalu tried to embezzle 5,000 to 6,000 pitch yaba carriers. Enraged, Zakir's member killed his associates Khaibar Ali and Zia and buried them in sacks. It may be mentioned that Shalu Mia, son of the late Chan Mia of Kauniya Char in Dantbhanga Union of Roumari, went missing on 28 February. Later, his wife Rejeka Begum became the plaintiff and on April 29 filed a statement in the name of Zakir member, Khaybar Ali and Zia. Police with the help of information technology arrested Zakir member from Shahbagh area of ​​Dhaka. Later, his accomplice Khaybar Ali was arrested from Konabari in Gazipur, Dhaka and Zia from Mohammadpur area of ​​Dhaka. According to their confession, Shalu's packed body was recovered from the fallen land of Zakir member on the east bank of Jinjiram river last Thursday.
