Mostafizur Rahman, Lalmonirhat Correspondent: Extortion is going on in land ports, roads and seaports. Three to five thousand rupees is being levied on the ferry in the name of lease. However, we have stopped extortion in the transport sector. The administration has been directed to arrest the extortionists. He said that the workers are collecting Tk 30 and the owners are collecting Tk 30 at the district level on the basis of receipts for the management of the workers' organization. It's not a fundraiser, it's a cost of running a labor organization. At present, neither the workers nor the owners are involved in the extortion on the roads. We also have information that BIWTA seaports are levying Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000 per vehicle on ferries in the same way. He called on the government to be strict in stopping these extortions. Former Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan has claimed that the administration has already arrested 70 such extortionists in Dhaka. He said people across the country would rejoice on the inauguration day of the Padma Bridge. The BNP is conspiring to fade that joy. As part of this, Chhatra Dal is creating an unstable environment in Dhaka University, which has been resisted by the ordinary students of Dhaka University. They are also blaming Chhatra League for this, which is not correct. Awami League presidium member Shahjahan Khan reached Lalmonirhat on a two-day visit at noon. He will participate in the extended meeting of the district Awami League at the district council auditorium on Saturday at 2.30 pm. Also present at the time were A'League District President, Motahar Hossain MP, General Secretary, Ed: Matiar Rahman, Deputy Commissioner Abu Jafar, Superintendent of Police Abida Sultana and many others.
