Two fugitives arrested in Teknaf drug case

Jabed Iqbal Chowdhury, Cox's Bazar: Police have arrested Md. Abdullah, a fugitive accused in a drug case sentenced to 5 years in Teknaf. He is the son of late Abdur Shukkur of old Pallan Para in Teknaf municipal area.

He was arrested from his residence on Saturday morning, May 26. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Teknaf Model Police Station Mohammad Hafizur Rahman confirmed the news. He said that Mohammad Abdullah is the accused in the case of Teknaf Model Police Station (GR 265/16) under section 9 (b) of the Narcotics Control Act 19 (1) dated June 7, 1990. On March 25, the Teknaf court in Cox's Bazar sentenced him to five years rigorous imprisonment and one more year of rigorous imprisonment for non-payment of a fine of Tk 5,000. He had been fleeing for several years under the name of Abdul Amin, but was eventually caught by a group of police led by ASI Sakhawat Hossain of Teknaf Model Police Station.

Meanwhile, Farid Alam, son of Fakir Ahmed of Ward 7, College College, Teknaf Municipal Council, was sentenced to five years in a case and fined Tk 5,000 by the Teknaf police on Saturday morning.
