Kazi Kamal, Naogaon: The educational activities of Panjrabhanga Government Primary School in Manda Upazila of Naogaon are being severely hampered due to irregularities and arbitrariness of Shahnaz Begum. Speaking to teachers, students, parents and local residents of the school, it is learned that on May 19, after locking the students in the school for five long hours, the headmaster Shahnaz Begum along with other teachers went to a nearby school to have an invitation. Student attendance at the school has declined since the incident. Besides, there are allegations against him that even after losing the election in the school management committee election, the resolution regarding the formation of the committee with the person of choice as the chairman was sent to the concerned department including the Upazila Primary Education Officer. On February 14 last year, a man named Reich Uddin Ahmed, an enthusiastic member of the school, lodged a written complaint with the district and upazila primary education officer. The formation of the school's management committee has been pending for the last 14 months in the wake of the allegations. Reich Uddin Ahmed said, "Headmasters embezzled money from various government allocations including school renovation and purchase of educational materials due to lack of management committee in the school." He also abused students and parents. Many of his arbitrary and aggressive parents have been forced to send their children to other schools. ' Complaining that the formation of the school management committee is pending due to the irregularities of the headmaster, he said, "I was elected after getting 6 out of 11 votes of the guardian members. My rival Enamul Haque got 3 votes. However, the headmaster secretly made a resolution and sent the committee to the concerned department of the education office showing Enamul Haque as the president. After the incident became known, I lodged a written complaint with the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), District and Upazila Primary Education Officer and other concerned departments. Although more than a year has passed since the allegations were made, the investigation into the allegations has not been completed and the formation of a committee is pending. Parent Saiful Islam said, ‘My son Nurunnabi is studying in 5th class in the school. On May 19, he and the other boys and girls in their class were under siege for about five hours. It was half school because it was a Thursday. Classes start at 11 a.m. and school holidays are scheduled for 2 p.m. That's why he didn't eat much at home. But due to the irresponsibility of the headmaster, I was stuck at school till 4:30 pm. She became extremely nervous and sick. My son doesn't want to go to school now. The headmaster should be given exemplary punishment for such behavior. ' Azhar Ali of Panjarbhanga village claimed that the school's educational activities were being disrupted due to the headmaster. He treats the parents' students badly when they have a problem with them. Everyone is upset by his behavior. After the incident of blocking the students in the school on May 19 and going to eat the invitation of the teachers, the anger of the locals towards him has increased. Students, parents and people in the area no longer want to see him as head teacher. ' Regarding the allegation, headmaster Shahnaz Begum said, "The issue of approval of the school management committee has been pending for almost two years due to tension over the post of chairperson." I don't care who the president of the school is. Some locals are deliberately trying to discredit me with false accusations. ' "I apologize to the students and parents for the incident," he said. On that day, an inter-school sports and cultural competition was being organized by the Upazila Education Office at the nearby Shiata Government Primary School. I went to that program with the teachers and students and other teachers. However, some students of the 5th class were left in the school the next day due to the Shapla Cup school competition. I tell them to stay in school until I come back. But it is too late for us to return. " Upazila Education Officer Abul Bashar said. Samsuzzaman said, ‘It is an act of extreme irresponsibility for all teachers to go to the program by blocking the students in the school. The headmaster cannot in any way avoid liability for this incident. I have investigated the matter myself. The investigation report with recommendations will be sent to the higher authorities within a day or two. In addition, necessary steps will be taken soon to resolve the complexities surrounding the formation of a management committee in the school and to restore the learning environment in the school. ‘
