News Desk: The Indian state of Assam is in the grip of severe floods after continuous rains. Thousands of homes were submerged in the floodwaters. As of Sunday, at least 620,000 people had been affected by the floods. At least 22 districts of the state have been affected by the floods. The Hindustan Times reports that floods and landslides have killed at least 24 people in the state. The flood affected areas include Bishwanath, Kachar, Dhubri, Goalpara, Golaghat, Lakhimpur, Nalbari, Shonitpur and Udalgiri. 91,517 residents of Assam have taken shelter in flood shelters. 152 shelter camps have been opened. Assam Disaster Management State Disaster Management Authority has given this information. So far, the Indian Army has rescued 238 people affected by the floods. Rescue teams and volunteers from the center also joined the rescue operation. The air force is helping to deliver relief to various flood-hit areas.
