Sanju Roy, Bogra: A mobile court of the district administration has imposed a fine of Tk 1 lakh on two companies in Bogra for buying flour from a flower mill at a lower price and selling it at a higher price. The fine was imposed on two companies named 'Bhai Bhai Traders and Binod Traders' in Namazgarh area of the city on Thursday afternoon. Executive Magistrate Jannatul Naeem, who heads the mobile court, said the raid was carried out at Namazgarh Bazaar on Thursday afternoon as part of regular monitoring by the district administration to keep the prices of essential commodities, including flour, at a tolerable level. At that time, the two companies were fined Tk 50,000 and a total of Tk 100,000 for stocking flour and selling it at higher prices. At the same time, 19 bags of flour stored in Bhai Bhai Traders and 1 bag of flour in Binod Traders were sold at the previous market price and the receipt was directed to be submitted to the field inspector of Bogra Agriculture Marketing Department. Bogra District Police and APBN members including Abu Taher, field inspector of Bogra Agriculture Marketing Department were present during the conduct of the court. Regarding the raid, Executive Magistrate Jannatul Naeem said on a mobile phone that in a meeting held at the district commissioner's office a few days ago with the district flower mill owners, wheat importers and traders, the deputy commissioner urged all those who have bought wheat at lower prices to sell flour at lower prices. Traders have also agreed. But a mobile court on Thursday raided several establishments, including a number of flower mills, and found irregularities in the two companies, who were deliberately buying wheat at a lower price and selling it at higher prices in the hope of making more profit. Magistrate Naeem further said that such a mobile court operation led by Bogra Deputy Commissioner Ziaul Haque would continue.
