News Desk: Bangladesh Bank has directed to keep the bank open on weekly holidays next Saturday for the convenience of Hajj management. On that day the branches and sub-branches of the bank concerned with the Hajj activities should be kept open all day long.
Bangladesh Bank's Department of Off-site Supervision issued a circular on Tuesday (May 18) to the chief executives of commercial banks.
It has been said that in order to facilitate the management of Hajj, the branches and sub-branches of the banks concerned with the Hajj activities should be kept open by ensuring adequate security for the full day of the weekly holiday on Saturday. The central bank said the directive was issued in the public interest on the basis of powers conferred by section 45 of the Banking Companies Act, 1991.
