Judge Khaleda Yasmin of the Tangail Women and Child Abuse Suppression Tribunal handed down the verdict on Monday (May 16th) at noon. The accused was not present in the court at that time. Convicted Md. Riaz Uddin is the son of Bashir Uddin of Garo Bazar area of ​​Ghatail upazila. He has been on the run since his release on bail. Ali Ahmed, Special Public Prosecutor (PP) of the Women and Child Abuse Suppression Tribunal, said Riaz Uddin had beaten his wife Liza Akter, 20, on August 10, 2009 for a dowry of Tk 10,000. The wife was seriously injured. In this situation, Liza was first admitted to the health complex of Fulbaria upazila. When his condition deteriorated there, he was taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for better treatment. Liza died on August 28 while undergoing treatment there. Liza is the daughter of Abdul Quddus of Enayetpur village in Fulbaria upazila. After the incident, Liza's brother Azahar Ali filed a case under the Women and Child Abuse Prevention Act on August 19, 2009. Ghatail police sub-inspector (SI) said at the end of the investigation. The Sultan filed a chargesheet in the court on November 20 of that year. The court passed the verdict after 10 of the 15 witnesses testified in the case.
