Drama 'Mask' screened in Chapainawabganj to prevent extremism

Faruk Hossain, Chapainawabganj Representative: Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit (CTTC) has organized a public awareness drama in the border district of Chapainawabganj. The play was staged at Drishtinardan Park at Barogharia Bridge Square in Sadar Upazila on Sunday (May 15) afternoon. The play was organized by the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police in collaboration with the Chapainawabganj District Police. Earlier, the play was staged in Nachol, Gomstapur and Shibganj upazilas of the district from May 12 to May 14. The play is written by Zayed Julhaj, a former student of the Department of Theater and Performance Studies at Dhaka University. Under the overall supervision of the University of Dhaka Theater and Performance Studies Associate Professor. Ahmedul Kabir. The play focuses on extremism, terrorism, militancy and bigotry, funded by the Bangladesh Police's Counter-Terrorism and International Crime Prevention Center project. The play shows how, under any circumstances, people resort to extremism by misinterpreting religion. How the instigators of extremism or militant recruiters use the names of various organizations to attract the people of the society and lead them astray. Researchers and alumni of the Department of Theater and Performance Studies, Dhaka University participated in the performance of the play. Khandaker Arafat Lenin, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police for the DMP's Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit, acted as the main coordinator of the play. Also present were Chapainawabganj Additional Superintendent of Police Mahbub Alam Khan, Additional Superintendent of Police (Nawabganj Circle) Atiur Rahman, Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mozaffar Hossain and others.
