News Desk: Police have arrested 16 Rohingyas, including women and children, who fled India through the Kulaura border in Moulvibazar. They were detained in the bus stand area of Moulvibazar-Srimangal road on Thursday (May 12) morning.
According to police sources, an intelligence agency is monitoring a group of people in the bus stand area of Moulvibazar municipal town. Interrogation revealed that they were Rohingya. After receiving the news, the police arrested them and took them to the police station. According to intelligence sources, the detained Rohingyas entered Bangladesh from India through Prithimpasha border in Kulaura upazila of Moulvibazar through brokers to go to the Cox's Bazar camp.
Indian brokers tell Rohingyas that they have people in Bangladesh. Brokers in Bangladesh will take them to the Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar. According to the broker, they reached the bus stand of Moulvibazar.
Moulvibazar Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Yasinul Haque said in the afternoon that they were arrested and brought to the police station. Initial interrogation revealed that the detainees were Rohingya. Interrogation is ongoing to get in-depth information from them.
