Sailors return from Ukraine for diplomatic activities: State Minister for Shipping

News Desk: State Minister for Shipping in Chittagong Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury has said that it has been possible to bring back the sailors alive from Ukraine through the diplomatic activities of the government. He was speaking as the chief guest at the concluding parade of trainee ratings of the 23rd batch of the National Maritime Institute and the 12th batch of the Madaripur branch at Saltgola in the metropolis on Saturday (April 2) morning.

He said a ship owned by Bangladesh Shipping Corporation got stuck in the Russia-Ukraine war. A sailor was killed in a rocket attack there. The survivors have been rescued from the ship and brought back to the country safely through the diplomatic efforts of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. I have been able to bring the body of the slain Hadisur to the country and bury it honorably. Russia-Ukraine war situation, but our country's sailors did not lose morale.

Special guest Secretary of the Ministry of Shipping. Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury said the National Maritime Institute should be up-to-date by formulating modern curriculum. We hope that the ratings here will brighten the image of the country in the world court.

This time Imtiazul Haque got the gold medal all round rating courtesy of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation. Parade Commander Istiaq Irfan Jihad received the Best Ground Rating Medal courtesy of Messrs. Hawk & Sons. According to National Maritime Institute sources, 128 people took part in the training course.
