Sports Desk: Pakistan cricket team has started a three-match ODI series after losing by a huge margin of 7 runs to Australia. Despite starting with a defeat at home, captain Babar Azam has set a great record by playing an innings of 56 runs with the bat.

Left-arm opener Imam-ul-Haq top-scored for Pakistan with 103 in reply to the visitors' 313. Captain Babar's bat came off 57 balls for 56 runs. Thanks to this innings, Babar has completed 4000 runs in his ODI career.

And it took the Pakistan captain just 72 innings to name this milestone. No other batsman has scored more than 4,000 runs in an innings less than this among Asian cricketers. Virat Kohli was the fastest Asian with 4,000 runs so far.

In January 2013, in the fifth year of his career, Kohli played 93 innings and scored 4,000 runs. This time Babar has set the record by playing 11 innings less than him. However, Babar did not set a world record for the fastest 4,000 runs.

The world record for the fastest 4,000 runs in ODI cricket is held by the legendary South African batsman Hashim Amla. In December 2013, in the fifth year of his career, he completed 4000 runs by playing only 61 innings. Not only that, he has the record of fastest 2 to 6 thousand runs in ODIs.
