The Prime Minister wants Saudi Arabia's big investment in Bangladesh

News Desk: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called on Saudi Arabia to invest heavily in the Special Economic Zone. "I welcome Saudi investment in Bangladesh," he said.

Sheikh Hasina made the remarks when visiting Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud called on the Prime Minister at her official residence Ganobhaban on Wednesday (March 16th).

After the meeting, Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Ihsanul Karim briefed the journalists.

The Prime Minister hoped that the investors of Saudi Arabia would take advantage of the various facilities provided by Bangladesh. "Bangladesh is ready to strengthen its cooperation with Saudi investors in the Special Economic Zone, including allocating land," he said. He added that his government was establishing 100 special economic zones across the country.

Expressing satisfaction over the existing bilateral relations with Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Hasina said, "In many cases, bilateral cooperation has been strengthened.

"These areas of strengthening bilateral cooperation include economy, trade, investment, energy, education, culture and defense," he said.

During the meeting, the Saudi Foreign Minister said that many companies of his country are interested in investing in the energy sector of Bangladesh, especially in the renewable energy sector. He added that many Bangladeshi workers are contributing to the global economy.

Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud praised the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the irresistible economic development of Bangladesh.

Referring to the relations between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia as a "strong bond of friendship", he said, "This bond will be further strengthened in the days to come."

The Saudi foreign minister said he would give top priority to expanding economic cooperation by exploring new sectors. He also hopes to work together with Bangladesh on various international issues.

The Prime Minister said Saudi Arabia has a special place in the hearts of the people of Bangladesh.

Sheikh Hasina extended her greetings to Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud and Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud.

The Prime Minister praised the contribution of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the custodian of the two holy mosques of the Muslim Ummah.

Foreign Minister. AK Abdul Momen, Ambassador at Large Md. Ziauddin, Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister. Ahmed Kaikaus, Bangladesh's ambassador to Saudi Arabia. Javed Patwari, Saudi Ambassador to Bangladesh Isa Yusuf Isa Al Dulaihan was present at the meeting.
