News Desk: Today is December 1, World AIDS Day. Initiatives have been taken to celebrate the day in Bangladesh as usual. The world community has been observing World AIDS Day since 1986 with the aim of creating awareness and prevention against AIDS.
According to UNAIDS, there are currently about 34 million people living with AIDS worldwide and about 35 million people have died of the deadly disease so far.
On this occasion, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has organized a discussion meeting at the auditorium of Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS) at Mohakhali in the capital today at 11 am. Health Minister Zahid Malek will be the chief guest at the event.
