News Desk: Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Malek has said that people over the age of 60 who are most at risk of coronavirus infection will be given a booster dose of the vaccine.

The health minister made the remarks at a press conference after an inter-ministerial meeting at the secretariat on Tuesday (November 30).

"We know the elderly are most at risk in Corona," he said. Therefore, citizens above the age of 60 will be given a booster dose.

Zahid Malek said, "No mask, no service, now the government wants to say, no vaccine, no service."

The minister said the school-college will remain as it is. And as time or class days are not extended.

Urging all to abide by the rules of health as well as not to hold mass rallies to prevent omikron, the health minister said the slackness that has come to reduce the incidence of corona in the country should be tightened to control it.

In the context of booster doses, the Institute of Pathology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) Adviser. Mushtaq Hossain said that some people may be given a booster dose as per the doctor's advice. But there is no need to give a booster dose at the moment. Those who have not been vaccinated at all need to be vaccinated at this time. A booster dose can be given when a more advanced version of the vaccine comes after vaccinating certain people.

"We see that many people have comorbid conditions, but can also be given to older people who have a doctor's recommendation for a booster dose," he said. One person was found to have a very weakened immune system, in a word, if they needed a booster dose because of their clinical condition, they could only be given. Because their death rate is much higher in Corona. That is why they are more at risk of being infected with corona.
