5 arrested while preparing for robbery in Faridpur

Faridpur Correspondent: Boalmari police have arrested five people, including four fugitive accused in a GR case, while preparing for a robbery in Faridpur's Boalmari upazila.

The arrested have been sent to Faridpur wise court on Wednesday (November 24).

According to the police and case statement, a group of 14/15 robbers had gathered in the garden on the north side of the house under construction of Hemayet Hossain's house in Magura village of Shekhar union of the upazila on November 23 at around 2 am. Upon receiving the information on the basis of secret information, a team of police led by Sub-Inspector of Boalmari Police Station Charwar Hossain raided the place. Police arrested five people at the time. The rest fled.

The arrested are Hannan Sheikh, 25, son of Shahid Sheikh of Satair union, Miraj Sheikh, 40, son of Majed Sheikh of Ichakhali village, Faruk Sheikh, 40, son of Joynuddin Sheikh of the same village, Anichur Rahman, 30, son of Mofazzel Biswas of Teljuri village of Shekhar union and Sheikhpur. Md. Abul Kalam's son from the village. Dulu Mia (21).

Domestic weapons used in the robbery were recovered from the detainees. The first four are fugitives in multiple GR cases.

Boalmari police sub-inspector Chharwar Hossain filed a case against eight people, including 5/6 unidentified persons, at the Boalmari police station on Wednesday. The case was registered under Section 399/402 of the Penal Code for the crime of gathering for robbery. The arrested have been sent to Faridpur wise court on Wednesday afternoon.

In this regard, Boalmari Thana Officer-in-Charge of Faridpur Mohammad Nurul Alam said that local weapons were recovered from the arrested persons and they were sent to Faridpur wise court.
