An explosion at a rocket engine factory in Serbia kills two

At least two people have been killed in a bomb blast at a rocket engine factory in Serbia. A series of explosions rocked the factory, just south of the country's capital, Belgrade, on Tuesday (November 23rd).

Meanwhile, a fire broke out at the spot after the explosion. Another 18 people were injured in the incident. This was reported by Deutsche Welle in a report on Wednesday (November 24).

The factory where the rocket engines were kept was completely destroyed. The factory used to manufacture various types of rocket engines, including turbojets, officials said.

According to Deutsche Welle, the first call came to the local fire department at 2pm local time on Tuesday. The factory is located 13 kilometers from the capital, Belgrade. On that day, the first explosion took place at the factory's rocket fuel plant.

Police said about 500 rocket engines were parked at the site of the blast. Each contained 30 kg of explosives.

The head of Serbia's fire department said a search was under way for the injured. They are touring the whole area. Police also said that drones were being used in the rescue operation.

Meanwhile, RTS TV reported that 40 workers were inside the factory at the time of the blast. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital. Different parts of their bodies were burnt. Where the engines were kept, they were completely destroyed. There are also deep holes in the ground.
