Not only Chhatra League, action will be taken against whoever is the culprit: Law Minister

News Desk: Looking at the involvement of a BCL leader in the recent communal violence in Rangpur, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Haque said action would be taken against not only the BCL but also the culprits.

He was responding to a question from reporters after a program of district judges at the Judicial Administration Training Institute in the capital on Sunday (October 24th).

Communal violence erupted in different districts of the country due to the incident of placing Quran Sharif in the puja mandapa of Comilla. Among them, Saikat Mandal Chhatra League leader arrested by RAB for attack, arson and looting in Pirganj of Rangpur has been identified.

When asked about the issue, the law minister said that after the Comilla incident, violence was reported in 24 districts including Pirganj for instability in the country. Those involved in this incident will be brought under the law. One has been arrested. All those whose names will come up in the interrogation will be brought under the law.

Asked about the progress on enacting the Minority Protection Act, the minister said, "We have said before that the issue of the Minority Protection Act will be taken up soon."
