5 juvenile extortionists arrested in Chittagong

News Desk: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested five teenage extortionists in a raid in Khulshi police station area of ​​Chittagong city. They were arrested from Lalkhan Bazar area of ​​the police station on Saturday (October 23). At the time, extortion money of Rs 44,500 and a sharp knife were seized from them.

The detainees are- Md. Arif Hossain alias Lokman (28), Md. Heart (20), Md. Shukur (21), Md. Arif (19) and Md. Mir Hossain (19).

According to RAB, on October 16, a victim started construction of a building in Lalkhan Bazar area. At that time the teenage extortionists demanded cash from him. They threatened to stop the construction work if the money was not paid within three days. Later, when the victim started working, the members of the teenage gang beat the workers and stopped the construction work, threatening to resume work if they paid the dues. The accused were arrested after a complaint was lodged with the RAB.

Chittagong RAB Assistant Director Nurul Abshar confirmed the matter and said the detainees were active teenage extortionists. During the preliminary interrogation, they confessed to extortion in different areas of the city. They have been handed over to Khulshi police station to take legal action.
