News Desk: The Baitun Najat Jame Mosque of Hawladar Bari in Pratapnagar village of Asashuni upazila of Satkhira has collapsed. At around 6am on Friday (October 6), the mosque collapsed on the lower reaches of the Kholpetua River.

Cyclone Amphan broke the embankment and the tide is still flowing in the area. Imam and Khatib of the mosque Hafeez Moinur Rahman used to perform Azan and prayers in the mosque while swimming in the flooded area. Recently such a video went viral on social media Facebook. Local resident Masum Billah said the cyclone Amphan had flooded the area by breaking the Kholpetua river dam in the forest floor area. The locals then repaired the dam, but during Hurricane Yas it broke again and reached the mosque, where the tide began to flow. The mosque collapsed at low tide on Friday morning. The imam of the mosque, Moinur Rahman, said the mosque suddenly collapsed after Friday prayers today. It has now become a heap of ruins. When the water stops rising, a new mosque will be built here. He asked for everyone's cooperation for this. Asashuni Upazila Chairman ABM Mostakim said the tide has been flowing in the area for a long time. I heard that the mosque collapsed this morning.

The Water Development Board could not stop water even with multiple projects. This is the situation today due to their negligence. The repair work of the embankment will be completed in the coming winter season. Then new mosques will be built. Asashuni Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) said. Nazmul Hussain Khan said, "I have learned about the matter from the local chairman." In the future, cooperation will be provided for the construction of mosque buildings.

The Alhaj Shamsul Haq Foundation recently donated a floating mosque specially built on a boat for the worshipers of the Banyatla area to perform their prayers on Tuesday (October 5th). Since then, people in the area have been praying in boats.
