Entertainment Desk: Just before the West Bengal Assembly elections, on March 8 this year, BJP Union Leader and Home Minister Amit Shah joined the BJP holding hands. He also took part in the BJP's election campaign in different parts of the state. Then there was a rumor that actor Mithun Chakraborty could get the post of Chief Minister of West Bengal if the BJP wins.

However, after the tragic defeat of the BJP in the Assembly elections, Mithun did not become the Chief Minister. But he is being evaluated for joining India's ruling BJP. This was proved by the placement of Mithun Chakraborty in the National Executive Committee of the party. Meanwhile, two former Union ministers, Menaka Gandhi and her son Varun Gandhi, have been dropped from the National Executive Committee (NAC) following criticism of the killing of some protesting farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh. The party announced a 60-member executive committee on Thursday. Of the 60 members of the committee, 36 are members of the Union Cabinet. The BJP has also announced a 169-member permanent guest committee. Apart from Mithun, former West Bengal MP and Union Minister Dinesh Trivedi and former state minister Rajiv Banerjee have also found seats in the BJP committee.

However, Rajiv Banerjee has been included in the list of invited guests. BJP central vice-presidents Dilip Ghosh, Swapan Dasgupta, Mukutmani Adhikari, Bharti Ghosh and Anirban Gangopadhyay have got more seats from West Bengal in the BJP's national executive committee. Former Union Minister Debashree Chowdhury, MP Jayant Roy, Rupa Gangopadhyay and female leader Mahfuza Khatun have been named in the list of invited guests. Outside West Bengal, the BJP's new national executive committee includes top party leaders like party central president JP Nadda, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari and Piyush Goel.

Incidentally, Mithun Chakraborty has been involved in politics for a long time. Although he did leftist politics at first, he later joined the CPM and the Trinamool Congress. The last time he signed up for the BJP. Besides, Mithun Chakraborty was also the president of the All India Workers Union for 25 years.
