News Desk: Thousands of pieces of yaba and other drugs are being recovered every day in the regular operations of the law enforcement agencies across the country. Recently new drug ISO is also available. In such a worrying situation, the Department of Narcotics Control gave a shocking information. According to them, there are three and a half thousand drug dealers in Dhaka alone.

Fazlur Rahman, head of the Dhaka division and additional director of the agency, said this at a press conference at the Dhaka Metro North office of the Narcotics Control Department on Friday (September 24). Recently, five drug traffickers were arrested in Gulshan, Bhatara, Kuril and Ramna areas of the capital with 570 grams of ice and 1200 pieces of yaba. The Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) claims it is the largest shipment of ice seized in Dhaka so far. Two private cars worth about crores of rupees were also seized at the time. Fazlur Rahman said Ice was first caught in 2006. Although it did not exist for a long time, the effect of ice has been increasing since 2019. We arrested one last August. Based on his information, we conducted the operation on September 21 and 22. In that operation we were able to arrest a syndicate of 10 people. Based on the information provided by them, we once again use our technology and talent to arrest these five people. He said the price of the drug is around 10,500 rupees per village. As the drug is expensive, only the children of affluent families get involved in it. Five of the arrested are from affluent families. For example, Zakaria has studied in Australia. Tareq Ahmed is from the United Kingdom. Besides, Jasim Uddin owns a house and a car. Everyone is rich and wealthy. Asked why they were getting involved, the official of the Narcotics Control Department said, "Basically, they are getting involved in this immoral act out of temptation." Since the price of ice is much higher, those involved in drugs bring them to these jobs by showing the temptation to earn more money. Asked why the drug lords are not being detained, he said, "Godfathers are basically covering their bodies." Even if they invest money and cooperate, they usually stay behind. And the people involved are trained in such a way that they do not want to give information to the original leaders as much as they do. Even then, we have received information about about 3,500 drug dealers in Dhaka alone. We are conducting operations. Asked why you are not arresting those who got the list together, he said, "Even if there is information, we cannot catch them if they do not have drugs at the time of arrest." They have to have drugs to be detained. And now they trade at night or in the deep sea without moving during the day. We are changing our strategy. We are conducting operations. Asked from which country this new drug ice is coming, Fazlur Rahman said, this drug is mainly coming to Bangladesh from Myanmar.

Asked whether there is a possibility of making this drug in the country, he said, there is no chance of making this drug in the country. The ingredients required for the production of this ice are not available in our country. Although some ingredients are used to make medicines, they have been banned from the country for a long time. Asked if those involved in the yaba business are also involved in ice, Fazlur Rahman said, "Yes, the yaba traders are starting this ice business." Although the spread is not big yet, they are trying to get the market. Due to the high price, they have not got the customer yet. Dhaka Metro North Deputy Director of the Department of Narcotics Control, among others at the press conference. Rasheduzzaman and Assistant Director. Mehdi Hasan was present.
