JOB Correspondent: The university administration has planned to install 22 new Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras on the campus of Jagannath University (JOB). The project proposal has already been completed. Immediate action will be taken only after getting the approval of the Vice-Chancellor.

Monday (September 20) University Proctor Professor. Mostafa Kamal and Director of the Department of Network and IT. Ujjwal Kumar Acharya has given this information.

A virtual meeting of UGC and public university vice-chancellors on Thursday decided to install CCTV cameras in the country's public universities. After the opening of the universities, CCTV cameras will be installed at important places on campus to monitor the overall situation. Moreover, as a precautionary measure of the campus, there will be surveillance of the security personnel. However, it has been informed that nothing will happen that will disrupt the safety of teachers and students. At the same time special care will be taken to avoid any untoward incident. The university authorities will keep in touch with the intelligence agencies to find out if there is any information about the threat of 'anarchy' and 'militancy' on the campuses.

In this context, 22 more CCTVs have been installed at Jagannath University. Although more than 40 CCTV cameras have already been installed in various important places of the campus, only about 40 of them are operational. To ensure more security, 22 more CCTV cameras will be installed. The university's IT department also said that the number will increase in stages. Starting from the installation of CCTV, the IT department will be under its overall supervision.

University Proctor Professor. Mostafa Kamal said, we already have a lot of CCTV cameras installed. However, in some places more will have to be put. That is why the proposal is already ready. The rest can be said by the IT department.

IT Department Director Prof. Ujjwal Kumar Acharya said, we have already decided to buy 22 cameras. It will be implemented only if the VC approves it. We are planting 22 now, then more will be planted in phases. Now we can't put a lot of you together. That is why initially 22 cameras will be installed. The IT department will be in overall charge of these activities.

It may be mentioned that Jagannath University currently has about 40 CCTV cameras. From the main gate of the university to the VC building, the ground floor of the new academic building, the art building, inside and outside the cafeteria, in the corner of the leisure building, there is more than one CCTV camera in the quiet courtyard. The network and IT department of the university is also in charge of looking after these close circuit cameras.
