International Desk: US President Joe Biden has formed a new alliance with the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia to strengthen security in the Indo-Pacific region. Last Wednesday (September 15), the heads of government of the three countries jointly announced the alliance. Under the agreement, the United States and the United Kingdom will help Australia build nuclear submarines.

According to analysts, the alliance was formed primarily to counter Chinese influence. However, France has also reacted strongly. They did not stop criticizing Biden directly for hurting their interests. According to international media reports, in 2016, Australia signed a multi-billion dollar deal to buy diesel-powered submarines from France. But excluding that, this time the Aussie government has signed an agreement with the United States and the United Kingdom to build a state-of-the-art nuclear-powered submarine. Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison himself confirmed on Thursday (September 17th) that he had suspended an earlier agreement with France. According to him, conventional submarines have become "unsuitable" for demand due to "rapid changes in regional security". And this has angered France.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian likened it to a "stab in the back", saying "we have built a relationship of trust with Australia that has been broken." However, the main anger of France has fallen on the United States. The French foreign minister has found similarities between former US President Donald Trump and Biden in a "unilateral" deal. "This (Biden's) brutal, unilateral and indefinite decision reminds me a lot of what Trump did," he told FranceInfo Radio. You don't have to do that with allies. "As we face unprecedented challenges in the Indo-Pacific region, the US decision excludes partners such as European allies and France from important partnerships with Australia," Le Drian said in a joint statement with the French defense minister.

France can only regret it. ‘Important Partners’ Soon after, the United States began trying to appease angry France. US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has said that France is still an important partner of the United States on many issues. At a joint news conference with senior US and Australian officials on Thursday, the US secretary of state said the United States was looking at ways to increase cooperation with France, including in the Indo-Pacific Ocean. "We welcome European countries playing an important role in the Indo-Pacific Ocean," he said.

We look forward to continued cooperation in this endeavor from NATO, the European Union and others. Especially from France, they are our important partners in many areas - it has been around for a long time, and it will continue to do so in the future.
