Healy Correspondent: On the other hand, the import of rice from India and the sale of government rice in the open market have reduced the prices of all types of rice in the wholesale and retail markets at Healy land port. The price of rice has come down by Tk 2 to 3 per kg in three days. Importers and retailers are in trouble as there are no buyers in the market despite the fall in prices.

Meanwhile, the port authorities are cooperating in all possible ways to release the imported rice from the port quickly. In order to keep the country's market normal, rice import from India started from 28th August through Healy land port. Although the local market did not have much impact at the beginning of the import period, the price of imported rice has recently started declining due to various government initiatives. The demand for imported rice has decreased due to the sale of rice at low prices in the open market, which is one of the reasons why there is not much demand from buyers in the ports and local markets. Importers and retailers are in trouble as there are no buyers even though the imported rice has been reduced by Tk 2 to 3 per kg. Meanwhile, the reduction in the price of rice in the retail market has brought some relief to the general buyers, but they demanded a further reduction in prices.

Healy Bazar Ghurre, gold and gold-5 varieties of rice imported from India are being sold at a reduced price of Rs 42 per kg, Rs 48 per kg of rice at Rs 48 per kg.
Sampa Katari is being sold at Rs 44 less and Sampa Katari is being sold at Rs 54 less per kg.

Babul Mandal, Hili's rice warehouse, said rice was being imported from India at Hili Panama Port while the government had started selling rice at lower prices in the open market. Due to this, our rice sales have decreased and there are not many buyers of rice. Even after the price has come down, buyers are flocking to buy rice.

Momin, a retailer in Healy, said, "Before, two or three trucks of rice used to go to different parts of the country from our warehouse every day. Two to three hundred sacks of rice were also sold from the shop." And now I can't even sell 10 sacks of rice sitting in the shop all day. We are in trouble because the rice is not sold. Salam and Nazmul, two buyers who came to the market to buy rice, said that the price of rice in the market has come down a bit from before. It is good for us. It would have been better if the price had been a little lower.

Harun Ur Rashid Harun, president of the Healy Land Port Import-Export Group, said importers at Healy Land Port have been allowed to import 60,000 metric tonnes of rice. After getting permission, we have opened LC and rice is already entering the port. We also have a lot of rice in the pipeline inside India.
The rice will enter the port in a few days. At the beginning of the import, there was a great demand for rice in Mokam, but now it is gone.

He added that the demand for rice has declined due to the sale of rice at low prices in officially open markets in different parts of the country. There is no buying and selling of rice in the market, there is no price. Kamrul Islam, deputy commissioner of Hili customs station, said it was normal to import rice from India at a lower duty through Hili land port. All kinds of assistance is being given to the traders for quick release of these imported rice from the port. As a result, there is no opportunity to store rice inside the port.

He added that since the start of rice import on August 28, 5,000 metric tonnes of rice has been imported from India through this port.
