News Desk: Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Haque has said that BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia will have to go to jail and re-apply if she wants to be released on parole or go abroad.

The law minister was responding to a question from reporters after the Law Commission's Silver Jubilee celebrations and unveiling of a book on the philosophy of law at the Judicial Administration Training Institution in the capital on Sunday (September 12th).

Law Minister Anisul Haque said she came to us last week. We sent in with feedback. In it, we have agreed to extend the period for six months. Last night I got the news that both the Home Minister and the Home Security Secretary are abroad for government work. That is why the application has not been sent to the Prime Minister's Office yet.

Asked whether Khaleda Zia had the opportunity to travel abroad, he said, "She (Khaleda Zia's) application has been accepted as an application under Section 401 of the Criminal Procedure Code." In the light of this application, the government suspended his sentence in an executive order and released him conditionally. That application has been decided. As a result, the application was disposed of.

There is no law to change this. If I have to do what I have said before, she (Khaleda Zia) will have to go to jail again and cancel the application. Then you have to apply again. We have nothing to do but extend our application. When the home minister returns to the country, the matter will go to the prime minister. '

Earlier, Justice ABM Khairul Haque, Chairman of the Law Commission, presided over the function as the special guest.
