District Representative: Liquid Oxygen Plant has been started experimentally at Feni General Hospital. Oxygen was delivered to a plant near the hospital from a tanker of Spectra Oxygen Limited around 9pm on Wednesday (July 28).

Residential Medical Officer (RMO) of Feni General Hospital, Iqbal Hossain Bhuiyan, said a liquid oxygen tank with a capacity of 6,000 liters has been installed at the hospital as the pressure of corona and symptomatic patients is increasing day by day. UNICEF implemented the project with the support of the World Bank.

A tank set up at the west-south corner of Feni General Hospital earlier this month was filled with liquid oxygen on Wednesday night. Now UNICEF authorities will keep it running experimentally for a few days. If it is regular, uninterrupted oxygen can be provided in 250 beds of the hospital. At least no patient has to go to Dhaka or Chittagong for oxygen crisis.

Abul Khair Miyaji, the caretaker of the hospital, said that due to the increase in patient pressure, it has become difficult to meet the needs of the patients with the central oxygen system and cylinders of the hospital. He was relieved to be able to refill the liquid oxygen plant experimentally before the catastrophe.

He added that oxygen support is needed for almost all patients admitted to the corona unit. In this case, it is the main controller for the corona unit. If the plant is regular, there is no need to worry about oxygen in the hospital.
