The bank opened after 5 days, the transaction will continue for three and a half hours

News Desk: Banks and financial institutions reopened on Sunday (July 25) after being closed for five consecutive days due to Eid-ul-Azha holidays and weekly holidays. However, due to the ban announced by the government to prevent the transmission of corona virus, the transaction will continue from 10 am to 1.30 pm.

Apart from weekly and public holidays (July 25) to August 5, every working day of the bank transactions will run for three and a half hours. However, the bank will remain open till 3 pm to complete other ancillary activities. Financial institutions will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A circular signed by Anwarul Islam, general manager of Bangladesh Bank's offsite supervision department, has been sent to the bank's managing director and chief executive with necessary instructions in a circular signed on July 13 regarding the opening of the bank amid strict restrictions.

It has been said that in the interest of conducting business and economic activities before Eid, transactions in the bank will continue from 10 am to 1.30 pm. At this time, wearing a mask and other hygiene rules must be ensured.

The circular further said that in the case of state-owned banks, one branch should be kept open in each district headquarters and upazila considering the bank management. In case of all other banks, 1 branch should be kept open in each district headquarters and not more than 2 branches may be kept open outside the district headquarters considering the management of the bank.

Deposit and withdrawal of cash through customers as checks, issue and acceptance of demand draft-pay-orders, payment of foreign remittances, distribution of allowances and grants under various social activities of the government, keeping different branches of the same bank open and different accounts of the same branch. Money transfer, receipt of treasury invoices, provision of other transaction facilities under various payment systems-clearing system introduced by Bangladesh Bank to all customers of the bank with online facility and open branch of the bank outside the said facility should be made and arrangements should be made for execution of urgent foreign transaction.

Card transactions and internet banking services should be kept running round the clock. ATM booths should be kept open round the clock with adequate supply of notes.

In order to keep the branch-sub-branch-booths of the bank located in the sea-land-airport area (port and customs area) open at all times, appropriate measures should be taken in consultation with the local administration and port-customs authorities to ensure proper hygiene. Necessary steps have to be taken to carry out customer service activities of the branches which will be closed during the prohibition through the branch. In order to inform the customers of the closed branch about the receipt of customer service, it is necessary to ensure that it is displayed in the form of a notice in the visible place of the said branch. In the case of all open branches, banking services should be ensured through a limited number of manpower in compliance with the health rules. Necessary steps will be taken by the concerned bank to bring the officers and employees of the bank to their respective offices during the prohibition. Bank officers-employees have to carry the identity card issued by their respective institutions while moving.

Essential departments of the head office of the bank should be kept open with limited manpower as much as possible. The principal-principal branches of the bank and all foreign trade branches (AD branches) will remain open through a limited number of essential manpower.

Banks were closed on Eid-ul-Azha holidays on July 20, 21 and 22 and weekly holidays on July 23 and 24. The country's banking sector was closed for five consecutive days due to the addition of weekly holidays to the Eid holidays.
