Chatmohar (Pabna) Correspondent: Chatmohar police have arrested a man named Bablu Mandal (50) with 10 kg 523 grams of silver at Chatmohar in Pabna. He was arrested from the Bhadra bypass junction of the Mathurapur union in the Upazila on Wednesday afternoon. The arrested Bablu Mandal is the son of late Iman Mandal of Dwipchar Biswas Para village in Pabna Sadar upazila.
Chatmohar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Aminul Islam said the Bablu Mandal was traveling from Pabna to Chatmohar on a motorcycle to smuggle silver to India through Dinajpur's Healy Border.
Bablu Mandal, the driver of the motorcycle, tried to flee by disobeying the police signal when he saw a motorbike approaching the police check post at Chatmohar bypass and tried to flee. While trying to flee on a motorcycle, SI Mominur Rahman Khan, ASI Mostafizur Rahman and his accomplices found the suspect and searched his body, and arrested a man named Rupa and Bablu Mandal. After searching his body, 10 kg 523 grams of silver in the shape of 9 small poly packs were found in a special white cloth bag. A case has been filed under the Special Powers Act at Chatmohar police station in this regard, the OC said.
