Cox's Bazar Correspondent: A wild elephant has died after falling from a high hill at Panerchhara Dhala on Eidgarh Road in Cox's Bazar. According to the forest department, a 30-year-old female elephant died after falling on a paved drain from the south hill of the road in the area of Pan Chhara Dhala at midnight on Monday, April 20. On Tuesday morning, pedestrians found the elephant's carcass and reported it to the Bhomriyaghona Bit Office. Later the people of the forest department came and rescued the carcass of the elephant.
Gias Uddin, a Bhomriyaghona forest beetle officer in the Eidgaon range, said the elephant was believed to have fallen from the hill while fetching food. However, it will be possible to know the details after the autopsy. He also said that the body of the elephant would be buried in the ground after the autopsy.
