News Desk: In the capital markets, the price of broiler chicken has come down by Tk 10 per kg to Tk 140 per kg. With this, the price of broiler chicken has come down by Tk 20 per kg in two phases this month. At the beginning of the month, broiler chickens were not available in the retail market below Tk 160 per kg. Although the prices of broiler chickens have come down, the prices of ‘Pakistani cock’ or ‘golden chicken’ and red layer chickens have remained unchanged. Golden Chicken is being sold at 250 to 280 taka per kg.

And red layer chicken is being sold at Tk 200 to Rs 220 per kg. Traders attributed the fall in broiler prices to a drop in hotel sales. Besides, other programs are not happening. Due to this, the demand for chicken has decreased. Moreover, ordinary people have also reduced their purchases. All in all, the price has come down. Khilgaon businessman said. Afzal said that before the start of the lockdown, the golden chicken was sold at Tk 340 to 360 per kg. Broiler chicken was 180 Taka and red layer chicken was 230 rupees per kg.

After the announcement of the lockdown, the price of golden chicken dropped to Tk 250 per kg. He added that the biggest buyers of chicken are hotels and fast food outlets. People are getting less out due to lockdown. Due to this, the sales of hotels and fast food shops have also decreased. So both the demand and price of chicken have come down.

Rampura businessman Alamgir Hossain said, "More than half of the chickens we sell every day are taken by different hotels." Due to the lockdown, he has almost stopped buying chickens in hotels. If the lockdown increases, our idea is that the price of chicken will go down further. He said that besides hotels, common people have also reduced the purchase of chickens. But when the price of broiler chicken was 160 rupees per kg, people bought more.

Even though it is selling at Tk 140 per kg now, there are not even half the buyers than before. Ismail, a chicken trader from Rampura Mollabari, said, "I have been able to buy broiler chicken at a reduced price of Tk 10 per kg since yesterday." That is why we are able to sell at a lower price. Our idea is to reduce the price of all types of chicken in the future. The reason for the reduction in the price of chicken in the future, the trader said, now the demand for chicken has decreased. Moreover, the weather is quite hot. Broiler chickens cannot be kept for long in this heat.

Lose if you keep broiler chickens after they grow up again. Because their food costs a lot. All things considered, the price of broilers will go down. And if the price of broiler chicken decreases, the price of other chickens will also decrease. However, if the lockdown goes up, the price may go up again. Mintu, a trader in Kaptan Bazar, said the farmers thought they would get a good price for chicken this Ramadan.

But the outbreak of coronavirus has made everything random. Chicken sales have dropped by less than half since the lockdown. It is natural that the price will go down if the demand goes down. It is not possible for the farm to keep chickens. If it is suitable for sale, the chicken must be sold. Let's get the price or not. Because the loss is only if you keep the chickens suitable for sale. Because on the one hand, the cost of food is high, on the other hand, there is the fear of dying.
