Chatmohar (Pabna) Correspondent: Wheat yield has been good in Chatmohar of Pabna. The price of wheat in the current market is also quite good. Due to good yield and good market price, the wheat farmers of Chatmohar are now smiling. However, those who have cultivated wheat without cultivation have benefited more due to lower production costs. According to the Upazila Agriculture Office, wheat was cultivated in 4,340 hectares of land in Chatmohar this year. The average yield per hectare was about 3 and a half metric tons.

According to this calculation, 15 thousand 311 metric tons of wheat have been produced in 11 unions and one municipal area of Chatmohar. Wheat farmer Abu Bakar Siddiqui, son of late Tajiruddin Sardar of Bejpara village in the Upazila, said, “I planted wheat on 2.5 bighas of land this year. No land was plowed or plowed during the sowing of wheat seeds. At the end of last Rabi season, just a day or two before harvesting paddy from the land, I sprinkled wheat seeds on the muddy land. Seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, irrigation, and cuttings cost about four thousand rupees per bigha. I got an average yield of about 15 manas. At present, what is being sold at Tk 1,050 to Tk 1,100 in Chatmohar's Hat Bazaar?

As such, I have earned about ten thousand rupees on one bigha of land. I also got wheat bran. ” Hundreds of farmers in areas like Abu Bakar Siddiqui have benefited by cultivating wheat without cultivation. According to the farmers, it is too late to harvest paddy from low lands. Then we have to wait a few more days for the land to be suitable for cultivation.

So we don't wait and sow wheat seeds in the field a day or two before the end of the Rabi season. This method reduces the production cost as well as takes less time to get the crop. On the other hand, Munjal Hossain, a wheat farmer from Ramnagar village of the Upazila, said that the cost of cultivating wheat, seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, cutting, and threshing has been Tk 6,350 per bigha. The yield per bigha is 15 manas. The profit per bigha was 6,400 rupees. Chatmohar Upazila Agriculture Officer A.A. Masum Billah said wheat has been cultivated in 4,340 hectares of land in Chatmohar this year. Last year, wheat was cultivated in 4,310 hectares of land. Wheat cultivation has increased in 30 hectares of land this time as compared to last year. Farmers have cultivated wheat in some low lands without any hale. This year the production has been better than any other year as the weather is favorable for wheat cultivation. In advance, the yield of Ufshi Bari wheat-33 bighas has been 14 to 15 manas. Yield has been relatively low in low lands. All in all, the farmers of this area are happy by cultivating wheat.
