News Desk: Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader has said that the country's democracy has not yet been institutionalized amidst various setbacks and obstacles. He made the remarks at an exchange meeting on Monday (April 12) on the ongoing activities of the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA). Obaidul Quader joined the virtual meeting from his official residence.

Obaidul Quader drew the attention of everyone in the political arena of Bangladesh and said, "There is a lot of discussion and criticism about the role of democratic politics and the opposition in the country." It is largely true that our democracy has not yet been institutionalized in the face of many setbacks and setbacks.

' Obaidul Quader also thinks that in order to institutionalize democracy, a strong opposition with a non-communal consciousness has become essential along with the ruling party. "A responsible opposition can make a significant contribution to strengthening democracy," he said.

In the absence of strong opposition, on the one hand, just as extremist communal politics finds fertile ground for strengthening, so too does a section of the ruling party have room to be arbitrary. Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader emphasized the strong and responsible role of the opposition in institutionalizing democracy.
